About the Press

Sutro House Press was created to bring together distinct fiction worlds under one independent imprint.

The name is inspired by San Francisco’s western edge — the fog, cliffs, old houses, ocean air, hidden histories, and moody beauty of the city. That sense of place runs through much of our work: stories shaped by atmosphere, longing, reinvention, and the secrets people carry.

Whether the setting is a Gilded Age steamship, a grand English estate, a Mission District alley, or a quiet staircase above the Bay, Sutro House Press publishes books with emotional texture, immersive worlds, and characters searching for love, justice, belonging, and home.
